Dude Looks Like a Lady? Nope! It's a Pregnant Man!
Can a man be pregnant? Does it count if it's not REALLY a man?
I was driving to work yesterday, and I was listening to Holmberg's Morning Sickness on 98 KUPD. When Brady went to do the news, he started talking about a pregnant man. I have to admit, I was intrigued. Turns out, it's not really a man at all.
A trans gender person, who is going from Female to Male, but still has all the female bits below had artificial insemination and is carrying "his" and his wife's baby.
While I'm all for if you think you are in the wrong body, do something about it, I am just a little concerned about this. One, what will all the male hormones he was taking do to the fetus? Even if he stopped, you can't convince me that that's normal.
Secondly. why not adopt? There was no sperm in the marriage anyhow, they would never have a true, 100% biological child.
Anyhow, the whole thing is just weird to me.

You know how there's always such an emphasis on maternal instinct is formed. There's alot of arguments for it being done through breast feeding, but in all honesty, I think the mother's attachment has a great deal to do with the fact that the baby was inside her for nine odd months. Maybe he wants the chance to bond by doing it...and really, what wife would complain about not having to do the hard part?

That's just crazy.
He chose to change himself into a man, but then he gets the artificial insemination, and not his "wife"? And what whacked out doctor agreed to inseminate him to begin with?

Monique-It's not 'just crazy' it's a natural human desire. Bringing a child into the world is one of the most amazing things you can do, and 'he' decided that that was right for him and his wife. So long as they raise their child with love and devotion how does it affect you?
In all honesty, I think they'll be better parents than many, simply because they have endured enough to become grateful and understand what a blessing a child is. Many parents aren't, and don't give a shit about their kids. These people obviously will.
Melissa- Thanks for linking that article.

The world is getting crazier all the time. I just wonder though, how crazy and mixed up is this kid going to be? Talk about a weird home life.I think this one is starting off with a few strikes against him (her) already.
