House Clearing & Blessing Card Reading
My brother has been living with me for just shy of 2 years. While he’s only 23, he’s had some tough breaks. Bad luck and bad decisions seem to follow him. Ever since he’s moved in, we’ve been meaning to do a house clearing. For whatever reason, we have put it off, put it off and put it off. With some recent troubles for each of us, we have decided to actually do it. Right now, we are just finishing up the cleaning to prepare for the cleansing and blessing.
However, I decided to do a reading before, just to see if there were any warnings or things I should be more attuned to. I used my Rider-Waite deck, and the Celtic Cross layout.
Here is what the cards had to say:
Position 1 – The Heart of the Matter, the Present Environment: Death (Inverted)
Getting Death inverted here showed me that we were unable to transition, change the status, close the bad chapters in our lives and basically unable to move forward.
Position 2 – Opposing Factor, Factor for Change, Reinforcing Factor: Strength
Shows that we KNOW we can endure, take heart despite the setbacks, can deal with frustration, and achieve soft control – This helped me realize that we are ready to move past the negative energy that has been surrounding us.
Position 3 – Root Cause, Unconscious Influence, Deeper Meaning: Three of Cups (Inverted)
The three of cups inverted shows that we have become more insulated, unwilling to count on friends and community for help, somewhat withdrawn from our friends. I also saw that it was reflecting the decrease in energy and feeling positive we have been experiencing.
Position 4 – Past, Receding Influence, Quality to Let Go: Knight of Pentacles (Inverted)
The Knight stands for stubborn, hardworking and dedicated. The fact that he was inverted makes me think that we weren’t being persistent enough, that we were giving up on change too quickly. This is the quality we really do need to let go of, so that we can move on, and help banish negative energy.
Position 5 – Attitudes and Beliefs, Conscious Influence, Goal or Purpose: Sun
The Sun stands for POWER, for enlightenment, vitality, greatness and assurance – these are absolutely what our goal is in this house clearing. We are taking charge and moving forward – being confident, finding sense in chaos, gathering positive energy and health!
Position 6 – Future, Approaching Influence, Deeper Meaning: Nine of Wands
Taking precaution, defending ourselves, continuing despite fatigue, holding together through force of will, getting knocked down then standing back up are all themes of the Nine of Wands.
Position 7 – As You Are, As you Could Be, As You See Yourself: Moon (Inverted)
The Moon is the card that is often associated with fears and anxieties – can signify being lost and aimless – having this card inverted shows that we are ready to move on and invite the positive into our lives.
Position 8 – Outside Environment, Another’s Point of View, As Others See you: King of Wands
Others do see us as creative and charismatic, even bold – I think this really shows that we have been showing a brave face to the world, despite our internal turmoil. Knowing others have faith that we are forceful and inspiring should fuel our energies.
Position 9 – Guidance, Key Factor, Hopes and Fears: Ten of Swords
For me, this card showing up in this position was all about our fears – the fear of becoming a victim or martyr, the fear of being powerless and bottoming out. I think both Mike and I have felt like things can’t get any lower, and realizing that these are some of the fears will empower us to let them go.
Position 10 – Outcome – Overall, Inner State, Actions & Effects: Two of Pentacles
The Two of Pentacles is about being flexible and fun. Seeing possibilities, moving forward, coping with demands, keeping balance and seeing the humor in situations. This card tells me that Mike and I will be able to find that balance, and move forward, and hopefully have some fun with it too!
